Remix_OS (Realtime environment for multimedia freenix Operating System) is a free of charge Linux distribution based on Debian, Ubuntu and Puredyne, specialised for real-time audio.
Remix_OS comes with the 2.6.39 PAE kernel
(2.6.38.6 in 64-bit version) for
hyper-lowlatency audio and includes fully-functional trial
version of the REAPER DAW (Digital
Audio Workstation) that runs under Wine patched for realtime with WineASIO driver.
Remix_OS is very fast, light,
stable and nice-looking and can run live from a DVD and a USB
stick or can be installed
onto internal or external HDD or a USB flash drive.
Remix_OS supports up to 64 Gb RAM and the wide range of video and audio cards, including external USB and Firewire devices.
With the Remastersys
software you can easily build your own distribution. Install your
favorite VST plug-ins and make your own Remix_OS LiveDVD!
Remix_OS has all media codecs needed for
a good multimedia experience and a selection of the best applications
designed to meet most of your daily needs:
